Customs Boss Welcomes Delegates to Abuja for C-PACT Conference
The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on Sunday night welcomed continental and international delegates to Abuja at a light pre-conference dinner held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, ahead of the maiden Customs Partnership for African Cooperation in Trade (C-PACT) Conference beginning tomorrow.
Speaking at the informal reception, the Customs Chief said the gathering was designed simply to create a relaxed atmosphere for delegates to meet, network, and familiarise themselves before the commencement of the conference themed, “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges.”

He said the welcome dinner underscores Nigeria’s hospitality and reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening relationships among Customs administrations, trade policymakers and private-sector actors who will be convening in Abuja for the landmark event.
“Tonight is just an opportunity for us to meet and greet, to share some drinks, and to connect among ourselves ahead of the very important task that begins tomorrow,” he said.
CGC Adeniyi extended warm greetings on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service, and on behalf of the Federal Government represented by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun. He assured guests of Nigeria’s readiness to host a productive and historic summit.
“Welcome to Nigeria. We wish you a pleasant stay and a rewarding conference,” he told the delegates.
The arrival of delegates for the dinner, including heads of Customs from several African countries and representatives of global trade bodies, signalled a promising start to the three-day programme.
The C-PACT Conference will run from 17 to 19 November in Abuja.
