NDLEA Arrests Wanted Drug Baron, Seizes Over 14 Tonnes of Skunk in Nationwide Operations

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a notorious drug baron, Frank Chijioke Ibemesi, also known as Chisco Bee, after weeks of surveillance that led to the uncovering of a major drug warehouse and significant cash seizure in Lagos.

Ibemesi, 42, who operates under the guise of a businessman and hotelier, was apprehended by the NDLEA Special Operations Unit in the early hours of Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his Daisy Garden Hotel located on Agbeke Street, Ago Palace Way, Isolo. The arrest followed intelligence reports linking him to high-scale drug trafficking.

A subsequent search of his warehouse at Pius Ezeobi Street, off Ago Palace Way, led to the recovery of 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 1,762.8 kilograms. Also found in his possession were $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars in cash.

Osun Forest Raid Yields Over 11 Tonnes

In Osun State, NDLEA officers foiled an attempt by a drug syndicate to circulate a massive consignment of processed skunk weighing 11,135 kilograms. The operation, carried out on Tuesday, November 11, followed extensive surveillance at Orita-Apeje in the Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve, Ife South LGA.

Two trucks — a Volvo (WWR 29 XA) and a Mercedes (AWK 713 YZ) — used for transporting the drugs were impounded, while seven suspects were arrested: Lucky Abiodun, Julius Amos, Victor Ngbikili, Sunday Oduegwu, Ibrahim Akanni, Eze Godstime, and Fred Ifeanyichukwu.

Multiple Raids in Edo, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Ogun, and Kwara

Intensified operations across other states also resulted in significant drug seizures:

Edo State: A combined 1,902.1kg of skunk was recovered across three locations. Arrests included Felix Edah, 45, and Lucky Abagha, 51, both nabbed while transporting hundreds of kilograms of cannabis in separate Mercedes vehicles.

Adamawa: NDLEA operatives seized 396,000 capsules of tramadol from Ahmed Isyaku Nda, 50, at the Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Yola.

Nasarawa: Officers evacuated 785kg of skunk from the warehouse of a fleeing drug dealer at Asob Maraba Karu.

Ogun: Four suspects — Micheal Okoh, Offor Agada, Raphael Nkemjika, and Nwabueze Franklin — were arrested with 68kg of skunk and 3.15kg of methamphetamine along the Ijebu-Ode expressway.

Lagos: Two men, Jamiu Kunle Kardoso and Oriyomi Waliu, were caught with 65.15kg of Canadian Loud in Surulere, while Taofeek Moraina was arrested at Otto, Oyingbo with 141kg of Ghana Loud.

Kwara: A truck conveying 78.565kg of skunk and 155 cartons of rubber solutions was intercepted along the Ilorin–Jebba expressway. The driver, Umar Yakubu, was detained. In a separate operation, Ibrahim Bello was arrested after 20 blocks of skunk were found concealed in a 50-litre jerry can inside a commercial bus.

NDLEA Intensifies WADA Campaign Nationwide

Beyond enforcement, NDLEA formations across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaigns. Outreach activities were held in schools and communities, including Government Day Secondary School (Zamfara), Holy Ghost Secondary School (Ebonyi), Government Science Technical School (Jigawa), City Girls Secondary School (Enugu), Randle Junior Secondary School (Lagos), and Anglican Girls Grammar School (Ogun).

Marwa Commends Officers

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), praised the various commands for their professionalism and resilience. He urged personnel nationwide to sustain the agency’s balanced approach to drug control, combining enforcement and public education.

The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, released the statement on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
