Military, Police Launch Search and Rescue Mission for 25 Abducted Kebbi School Girls
Security agencies have launched a massive search-and-rescue operation after suspected armed bandits abducted 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, when a gang of heavily armed bandits stormed the school around 4:00am, firing sporadically. Police tactical units already stationed at the school engaged the attackers in a gun duel, but the assailants succeeded in scaling the school’s perimeter fence and whisking away the students to an unknown location.

During the attack, one male resident identified as Hassan Makuku was shot dead, while another, Ali Shehu, sustained a gunshot injury to his right hand.
Following the abduction, the Kebbi State Police Command deployed additional tactical units to the area, working alongside military personnel and local vigilante groups. The combined team is currently combing suspected bandit routes and nearby forests in an effort to rescue the students and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, condemned the attack and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security operations aimed at restoring peace.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, disclosed the details in a statement issued on Monday.
