Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep shock and sadness over the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba by terrorists, strongly criticizing the military hierarchy for its initial denial of the incident and labeling the tragedy an “unequivocal failure of political leadership.”
In a statement posted on his Twitter account, Abubakar asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appears more interested in “decimating the opposition” while neglecting his crucial role as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Demand for Occupation of Terror Hotspots
Abubakar described the death of General Uba, along with some of the troops he was leading, as “one death too many” and warned that Nigeria cannot afford such a bold terrorist resurgence.
The former Vice President issued a stark challenge to the President regarding the nation’s security challenges: “The security of the lives of our people is your primary responsibility and you must live up to it or be humble enough to admit incompetence and either ask for help or resign.”
Offering a counter-strategy, Abubakar proposed: “If I was President, I would order the military to occupy Borno State or any state under siege by bandits or armed groups until they clear those areas.”
He urged citizens and military leaders to take heart, expressing hope that “this dark period shall pass away,” and offered his condolences to the Nigerian Armed Forces, the bereaved family, and all Nigerians.
