Delta Police Arrest Cultists, Recover Pistols and Ammunition in Agbor and Warri Operations

The Delta State Police Command has intensified its operations against cultism, armed criminality, and unlawful possession of firearms, recording significant breakthroughs in two separate operations in Agbor and Warri.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Abaniwonda Olufemi, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks and stemming the proliferation of illicit firearms across the State.

Agbor: Eiye Cultists Arrested with Pistol

On November 8, 2025, operatives successfully disrupted cult activities in Agbor following credible intelligence that suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity were mobilizing at Ojeifo Street.

The Agbor Divisional Police Officer, CSP Michaeal Obekpa, led a swift deployment, resulting in the tactical arrest of two notorious cult members: Agu Nnamdi and Promise Banco.

In a desperate attempt to conceal their weapons, the suspects hid a locally fabricated pistol inside a black nylon, which was uncovered by the vigilant operatives. Investigations are ongoing to track down other fleeing members.

Warri: Two Double-Barrel Guns Recovered from Fleeing Suspects

In Warri, surveillance operatives of ‘B’ Division, led by CSP Josephine Ekebuike, engaged in a pursuit after observing a tricyclist and two passengers riding aggressively against traffic along Arubi Street on November 16, 2025.

The chase ended in First Marine Quarters, where the suspects abandoned the tricycle and fled. A search of the recovered tricycle led to the discovery of two locally fabricated double-barrel guns. Other recovered items included nine assorted mobile phones, four power banks, and a screwdriver.

CP Olufemi commended the swift response and professionalism of the operatives and urged residents to remain security-conscious by providing timely and credible information.

The statement was signed by SP. Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command.
