CP Kankarofi Rallies Stakeholders, Seeks Stronger Synergy to Tackle Insecurity in Kogi

Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, on Tuesday convened a high-level strategic security meeting with Local Government Chairmen and heads of security agencies, reaffirming the Command’s renewed commitment to strengthening security operations across the state.

CSP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Police Command, disclosed the information in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The meeting, held at the Command Headquarters Conference Hall in Lokoja, brought together key security stakeholders in what the police described as a coordinated effort to enhance peace, intelligence sharing, and community safety.

In his remarks, CP Kankarofi commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritising security and supporting collaborative initiatives aimed at stabilising the state. He also praised the synergy already existing among security agencies and Local Government Chairmen, urging them to deepen cooperation for more effective crime prevention.

He stressed that improved intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and strengthened community policing would play critical roles in addressing emerging security threats.

State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd), also lauded the initiative, describing synergy as the backbone of Kogi’s steady security improvements. He expressed confidence in Governor Ododo’s continued support for joint security operations and recommended that the strategic meeting be held quarterly to sustain the momentum.

The meeting was attended by the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Aletan Olumide Ebenezer; Mr. Peter Okon, Assistant Director representing the DSS; the Commander General of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, Mr. Omeiza Sani; ALGON Chairman and Executive Chairman of Yagba West, Hon. Tosin Olokun; all 17 Local Government Chairmen; Area Commanders; Tactical Commanders; and Divisional Police Officers.

Discussions focused on assessing the state’s security landscape, reviewing crime patterns, identifying emerging threats, and addressing operational challenges. Participants also contributed insights from their respective jurisdictions and proposed measures to enhance field operations and community engagement.

In his closing remarks, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Christopher Bassey, commended attendees for their dedication to keeping Kogi safe. He emphasised that sustained cooperation, vigilance, and continuous communication remain vital to the success of security efforts across the state.

The meeting ended with a renewed pledge by all stakeholders to strengthen joint operations and maintain Kogi’s growing reputation for stability and safety.
