Young Muhammadu Buhari Thrills NDLEA Chairman Marwa with Spoken Word Tribute in Abuja
The Security and Emergency Management Awards and Lecture (SAEMA 2025) in Abuja was captivated by a performance from young spoken-word artist Muhammadu Buhari, of the legendary Ochimane Brothers, who delivered a tribute that drew admiration from the nation’s security and communication elite.
The event organised by Emergency Digest, a publication of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) was hosted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), featured a stirring poem titled “A People’s General,” dedicated to the host and Chairman/CEO of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.).

Through lyrical and commanding cadences, young Muhammadu transported the audience through General Marwa’s distinguished career. The poem extolled Marwa’s disciplined military upbringing, his transformational governance record, and his “unprecedented revolution against drug trafficking and substance abuse in Nigeria”.
The performance, described as equal parts tribute and thunder, earned nods of admiration from the audience and a warm, approving smile from General Marwa himself.
The ceremony drew an impressive list of dignitaries, including General Chris Olukolade (Rtd.), Chairman of the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC); Prof. Sule Yau Sule, Chairman of Image Merchants Promotions Ltd; and Dr. Olusola Odumosu, Commandant of the FCT NSCDC, alongside other agency heads.
