How Lagos Police Complied with Court Order on NESTOIL Premises

The Lagos State Police Command has strongly refuted recent media reports alleging that the Commissioner of Police (CP), CP Olohundare Jimoh, defied a court order concerning the NESTOIL premises, labeling the stories as “untrue, unfounded, and mischievous”.

The Command asserted its strict adherence to the rule of law, maintaining that it promptly obeyed the court order concerning the property.
Police Detail Compliance Timeline
The Lagos Police Command detailed the timeline of its compliance efforts to correct the “erroneous impression” created by the media reports:
* Order Received: A Court Order in respect of the NESTOIL premises was received by the Command at about 17:50 hrs on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
* Verification: The Order was immediately sent to the Police Legal Department for verification and confirmation of authenticity from the issuing Court.
* Withdrawal: The confirmation was received on the evening of November 21, 2025, and all Police Personnel in the premises were withdrawn immediately on the same date, without delay, in compliance with the Court Order.
The Command described the publications alleging defiance as a “surprise shock” and a “wicked attempt” to drag the Police into the issue involving NESTOIL and other parties.
Clarifying the Police Role
The Police used the statement to clarify their limited role in the matter, educating the public that the Police “has no power to seal any premises,” including that of NESTOIL.
The Command stated that Police responsibilities are strictly limited to protecting the Court Sheriff or other public officials in the enforcement of court orders and the maintenance of peace. The Lagos State Police Command therefore enjoined all the parties involved to concentrate on their legal processes and not to drag the Police into unnecessary controversy.
The Commissioner of Police urged the public to disregard the report and the narrative from NESTOIL in its entirety as “complete falsehood”.

The statement was signed by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command.
