BOOK REVIEW: IMPR Chairman Applauds PRNigeria Corpers for Documenting Nigeria’s War on Drug Trafficking, Smuggling
The Chairman, Board of Directors of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), Prof. Sule Ya’u Sule, has applauded two PRNigeria corps members for authoring a comprehensive book that documents Nigeria’s renewed fight against drug trafficking and smuggling.
He gave the commendation at the “2025 Security and Emergency Management Awards” (SAEMA) on Wednesday. The event was held at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) corporate headquarters in Abuja.
While reviewing the book, Prof. Sule said the book titled, “Anti-Drug, Anti-Smuggling Campaigns: A Corpers’ Chronicle,” represents the intellectual courage of young Nigerians who chose to devote their service year to researching and reporting national security developments.
He described the publication as a valuable contribution to public knowledge on the country’s anti-drug and anti-smuggling operations.
The IMPR Board Chairman noted that Nigeria is currently contending with complex security threats ranging from narcotics abuse to cross-border smuggling.
He said the documentation offered by the authors helps illuminate the scale of the challenges as well as the efforts of institutions working to address them.
According to him, the NDLEA under Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) has demonstrated unprecedented operational efficiency through enhanced intelligence, strengthened training, and high-level arrests targeting cartel leaders.
He commended the authors for capturing these developments with clarity, depth and a sense of national responsibility.

Taking the floor on behalf of the authors, Arafat Abdulrazaq delivered the appreciation message, expressing gratitude to IMPR for the opportunity to serve in an environment that values research and national development. He said the book was born out of months of fieldwork, newsroom tasks, and engagements with security institutions.
Arafat said their coverage of NDLEA and Customs operations exposed them to the complexities of national security and deepened their respect for officers who risk their lives daily. He thanked their parents, mentors and colleagues for supporting their journey, noting that the experience has shaped their future career aspirations.
