DSS Nabs Notorious Bandit in Bauchi Hideout, Seizes Cash, Ammunition
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a notorious bandit during a covert operation in Bojinji Village on the outskirts of Bauchi, recovering millions of naira in cash alongside a significant quantity of ammunition.
Security sources revealed that the suspect had recently relocated to Bauchi from Zamfara State under the guise of fleeing persecution. He reportedly settled in the village with his family. Although Bauchi has become a safe haven for people displaced by conflicts in neighbouring states, security officials say criminal elements are increasingly taking advantage of this movement to conceal their activities.

The intelligence-led raid, conducted without prior notice, took residents by surprise. A security source disclosed that the DSS had closely tracked the suspect’s suspicious wealth and movements before launching the operation.
Investigations further revealed that the suspect was widely known for his extravagant lifestyle. He was said to frequent Unguwar Yelwan Angas, where he spent long hours drinking and lavishly buying alcohol for others. Despite his conspicuous spending habits, community members did not suspect him of any wrongdoing until the DSS intervention.
Security agencies have since called on residents to remain vigilant and promptly report individuals whose lifestyles appear inconsistent with their legitimate means, emphasizing that community cooperation is crucial in exposing criminal networks.
Security sources confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the suspect’s activities and identify any accomplices operating within the state.
