Tinubu Appoints Ribadu to Lead FG’s Team for US-Nigeria Joint Security Working Group

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the membership of the Nigerian contingent to the US-Nigeria Joint Working Group, a new framework aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

The establishment of the Joint Working Group follows agreements reached during a recent high-level visit to Washington, D.C., led by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. Ribadu will head the Nigerian side of the Working Group, supported by senior government officials across key security, foreign policy, and humanitarian sectors.

Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Bernard M. Doro.

Also on the team are the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Mohammed Mohammed; and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Ms Idayat Hassan of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and Mr Paul Alabi of the Embassy of Nigeria in the United States have been designated to serve as the secretariat of the Working Group.

President Tinubu urged the members to collaborate closely with their American counterparts to ensure the effective implementation of all agreed initiatives across the relevant sectors.
