NIPR FCT Re-Elects Ogadigo as Chairman, Honours Achievers, Gifts Students
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, on Thursday concluded activities marking its 35th anniversary with the re-election of its Executive Committee and the presentation of awards and prizes to outstanding individuals and institutions.
The grand finale, held at the UBEC Digital Resource Centre in Jahi, followed a dinner event earlier in the evening and brought together members of the Chapter, invited guests and students who participated in the anniversary essay competition.
Registrar of the Institute, Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue, administered the oath of office on the re-elected Executive Members, charging them to uphold unity of purpose and remain an example to other Chapters across the country. All members of the previous Executive Committee were returned.
The re-elected officers include Stanley A. Ogadigo, Chairman; Edward Adebanjo, Vice Chairman; Chiamaka Obi-Okafor, General Secretary; Victoria Abba-Paul, Assistant Secretary; Dr. Tope Ojeme, Public Relations Officer; Tanyish Ahynopwa, Treasurer; Dr. James Odey, Financial Secretary; Aisha Gambari, Welfare Officer; and Asiya Suleiman, Auditor.
Others are Maryam Sanusi, Ex-officio I and immediate past Chairman; Badejo Olubunmi Adedoyin, Ex-officio II and Council Member; and Eberechukwu Emeribe, Ex-officio III.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ogadigo thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and assured that his second term will deliver greater value to the Chapter and the profession.
President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, congratulated the re-elected team and encouraged them to sustain the hard work that earned them another mandate.
He emphasised that the contest had no victor or vanquished and urged the executives to draw from the ideas of all members to strengthen what he described as the Institute’s “numero uno” Chapter.
The event also featured the presentation of awards tagged “Awarding and Rewarding the Hands that Build Abuja”. Honourees included Dr. Elvis Abuyere, who received the Social Impact Award; Dr. Ibrahim Wada, who was honoured with the Icon of Healthcare Leadership Award; and Transcorp Hilton Hotel, which earned the Icon of Hospitality Award, received on its behalf by Mr. Ifeanyi Nnaji. Chinedu Achusi received the Pillar of FCT Chapter Award, while Chukwuyem Jude Israel, popularly known as Chucks D General, won the Excellence in Entertainment Award.
Winners in the 35th anniversary essay competition were also presented with prizes. In the primary school category, Nigerian Korean Model School took first place, followed by LEA Area 10 Primary School and LEA Zone 2 in second and third positions respectively. In the secondary school category, Government Secondary School Kubwa emerged winner, with GSSS Pape coming second. At the tertiary level, Birmingham University claimed the top spot, while the University of Abuja placed second.
