Ilorin Emirate Youth Hail AVM Lanre Ibrahim Oluwatoyin (Rtd.) for Deepening Space Research, Education Projects
The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA), operating under the guidance of the Emir of Ilorin, has extended warm congratulations to the former Chief of Defence Space Administration, Air Vice Marshal Lanre Ibrahim Oluwatoyin (Rtd.), on his successful retirement. The group hailed the senior officer’s far-reaching contributions to the development of Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
Describing him as a leader “retired but not tired,” IEYDA commended AVM Oluwatoyin’s unwavering commitment to national advancement, noting that his dedication to service has remained steadfast even after leaving active duty.
The accolades follow the commissioning of several landmark development projects facilitated by AVM Oluwatoyin, all of which reflect his passion for education, scientific growth, and community upliftment.

Through a partnership between the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and the Defence Space Administration (DSA), a state-of-the-art Space Research Centre was inaugurated at the University of Ilorin. The initiative, championed by AVM Oluwatoyin, marks a major milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s defence technology and expanding its scientific research capacity.
Education Infrastructure in Ilorin South:
In Ilorin South LGA, AVM Oluwatoyin commissioned new facilities at Shuban Al-Islam LGEA School. The project features two modern classroom blocks, sanitary facilities, a perimeter fence, a motorized water system, and an administrative office, significantly improving the learning environment for pupils.
Model School in Babanloma: He further commissioned the newly built and fully furnished JNIC Staff Model Nursery and Primary School in Babanloma, Ifelodun LGA. The school, constructed in his honour, stands as a testament to his enduring influence on educational development.
In a joint statement, IEYDA’s National President, Alhaji Mohammed Uthman Jagunmo, and National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulfatahi Oloyin, praised AVM Oluwatoyin for his visionary leadership and consistent efforts toward community empowerment. They lauded his legacy of service, describing him as a role model for the youth and a pillar of progress.
The association prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, good health, and success for AVM Oluwatoyin in his post-retirement pursuits. IEYDA reaffirmed that he remains a distinguished son of the Ilorin Emirate, a national asset, and a shining example of dedication and selfless service.
