Governor Yusuf Bags CREED Award, Reaffirms Commitment to Justice and Urban Renewal

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, was honored as the CREED Magazine Governorbof the Year 2025 on Infrastructure and Good Governance during the Annual Dinner and Awards Night at Tropical Galeria, Kano.

The award recognized his administration’s efforts toward urban renewal in meeting the global standard of a mega-city.
The Governor, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Kano State, Barr. Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, infrastructural development, and good governance.

Reforms Target Prolonged Detention Cases
In his remarks, Governor Yusuf highlighted the ongoing justice reforms initiated by his administration, particularly the review of prolonged detentions in custodial centers.

He noted that the review uncovered troubling cases of inmates held for years without trial, case files, or legal representation.
The administration took swift action to trace missing files, issue legal advice, and release individuals where justice required it.
Governor Yusuf also highlighted progress in infrastructural development across the state, including road rehabilitation, water supply improvements, and ongoing urban renewal projects aimed at creating a safer, cleaner, and better-organized Kano.

The Governor’s representative was accompanied by prominent officials, including the Commissioners for Water Resources, Housing Development, and Works, as well as the Managing Directors of KASCO and KNUPDA. His Highness, the Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, was also in attendance.

The statement was signed by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity, Government House Kano.
