JUST IN: Army Rescues 7 Abducted Victims in Kano Community
Troops under Operation MESA, comprising personnel of the 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, and the Nigeria Police, have rescued seven kidnapped victims during a late-night operation in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The rescue operation followed a distress call received around 11:00 p.m. on 29 November 2025 from Yankamaye Cikin Gari village, where bandits had launched an attack.
According to a statement issued by Captain Babatunde Zubairu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade, the troops responded swiftly to the distress signal and made contact with the armed criminals. Although seven victims were successfully rescued, the bandits had already killed a 60-year-old woman before security forces arrived.

Following the initial encounter, the troops pursued the fleeing bandits along their withdrawal route towards Rimaye and engaged them with sustained firepower. This led to the safe recovery of the abducted individuals; however, four other kidnapped victims remain unaccounted for as search and rescue efforts continue.
The fleeing bandits were said to have escaped towards Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State, and security forces are currently working to track their movements and secure the remaining victims.
The Commander, 3 Brigade, commended the troops for their courage, rapid response, and professionalism, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance ongoing operations against criminal elements.
