NCoS Appoints First Female Spokesperson, Jane Osuji
The Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Nwakuche, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Corrections (CSC) Jane Osuji as the new Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO).
This move makes her the first woman to hold the position in the organisation’s history.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Deputy Controller-General of Corrections (DCG) Ado Sale, who oversees Human Resources. Osuji replaces Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) Umar Abubakar, who retired from service on November 19.
Osuji, from Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

She joined the then Nigerian Prisons Service in 2009 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons II and has since completed all requisite professional courses for her cadre. She has also participated in several specialised trainings, including the Internal Security/Low Intensity Conflict Operations Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
Over the years, Osuji has served in key public relations roles across multiple formations, including Assistant Public Relations Officer in the Lagos State Command and Public Relations Officer in the FCT Command.
She was later deployed to the National Headquarters as Assistant National PRO, serving under four successive Controllers-General.
Between 2015 and 2023, she also served as Press Secretary to three Ministers of Interior. Until her latest elevation, Osuji was a staff member of the Public Relations Unit at the NCoS Headquarters in Abuja.
CSC Osuji is married with children.
