Police Nab Suspected IPOB Member With Handcuff Wound in Anambra
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a suspected member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during a joint patrol operation in Amakwa, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Osuigwe, was apprehended on the evening of 30 November 2025 by officers attached to the Ozubulu Police Division working in collaboration with the Ozubulu Central Vigilante.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Osuigwe was sighted acting suspiciously and attempting to hide upon noticing the patrol team. His behaviour raised security concerns, prompting operatives to stop and search him.

During the search, police recovered a handcuff from him and observed a fresh handcuff wound, which further deepened suspicion.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect allegedly confessed to being a member of a secessionist group and claimed he recently escaped from a criminal camp in Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA, following a disagreement with other members of the group.
He is currently in police custody and has reportedly provided “useful information” that is aiding ongoing investigations.
SP Ikenga reassured residents that the arrest aligns with the strategic security measures introduced by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, focusing on heightened surveillance, stronger visibility policing, and intensified day-and-night patrols across the state.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, assuring that further updates will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
