As part of efforts to reinforce accountability and strengthen partnerships, CP Kankarofi on Wednesday received officials of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) who stopped by the Command Headquarters in Lokoja during their rally to mark the 2025 International Human Rights Day.
The CP commended the Commission’s continued advocacy and described their visit as timely and essential to enhancing the human rights framework in Kogi State. He reiterated the Police Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of all persons in line with constitutional and professional standards.
He urged the NHRC to continue serving as the *“ears and eyes”* of the Command by conducting impromptu visits to police formations and detention facilities, and by promptly drawing attention to any observed gaps in compliance. According to him, such constructive oversight will strengthen service delivery and reinforce transparency.
Responding, the Kogi State Coordinator of the NHRC, Barr. Nuhu Mohammed, praised CP Kankarofi for the notable progress recorded since assuming office and pledged the Commission’s readiness to deepen collaboration aimed at improving human rights protection and community trust.
The engagement, according to the PPRO, reflects a renewed joint commitment to cooperation, accountability and shared responsibility in enhancing public safety and safeguarding the rights of residents across Kogi State.
