Kogi Police, CAN Leadership Strengthen Partnership to Boost Security
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening community-based policing as he hosted the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kogi State Chapter, during an advocacy visit to the Command Headquarters in Lokoja on Tuesday.
The CAN delegation, led by its State Chairman, Pastor Adebayo Emmanuel Olaniyan, commended the Commissioner of Police for the notable improvement in security across the state since he assumed office. Pastor Olaniyan praised the visible decline in criminal activities, describing the progress as impressive and worthy of recognition.
He highlighted several security concerns requiring sustained attention and assured the Command of CAN’s readiness to collaborate closely with security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property.

Responding, CP Kankarofi expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that such engagements strengthen trust and reinforce the shared responsibility of securing the state. He assured the delegation that the Command is fully aware of ongoing security challenges and has already taken decisive steps to address them through intelligence-driven strategies and increased operational efficiency.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of synergy between security agencies, religious bodies, and community stakeholders in sustaining peace and preventing criminal activities. He added that collaborative engagements like this boost officers’ morale and enhance efforts toward professional, transparent, and community-centered policing.
The visit, according to the Command, reflects a renewed commitment to unity and collective action aimed at deepening peace and enhancing the well-being of all residents of Kogi State.
