OPHK Boss Tasks Newly Promoted Brigadiers on Loyalty, Professional Service
The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has charged newly promoted Brigadier Generals serving in the theatre to demonstrate exemplary leadership, deepen their professional competence and uphold absolute loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He gave the charge on Tuesday, while decorating five senior officers elevated to the rank of Brigadier General at a colourful event in Maidugur, Borno.
The event drew serving and retired senior military officers, heads of security agencies, families, friends and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the new generals—Brigadier General Ikechukwu Ogundele, Abubakar Sale, Suleiman Muhammed, Abdullafeef Idris and Yusuf Kawu.
In his remarks, Major General Abubakar congratulated the officers, describing their promotion as well-deserved and a clear recognition of their hard work, competence and dedication.
He noted that OPHK remains “the flagship theatre of the Nigerian Armed Forces with the largest fighting troops in sub-Saharan Africa,” adding that their deployment and elevation were deliberate, strategic decisions aligned with the operational needs of the theatre.
The Theatre Commander expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for approving the promotions, describing the newly promoted officers as “excellent officers and the engine room of OPHK.”
He encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of service delivery, embrace continuous professional development and lead with integrity and courage.
