PSC, Police Open Application Portal for Recruitment of 50,000 Constables

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of recruitment for 50,000 police constables, following the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The exercise aims to boost community policing, strengthen internal security, and expand the manpower of the nation’s police architecture.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission confirmed that the official recruitment portal will open to applicants on Monday, December 15, 2025, and close on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

According to the PSC, eligible Nigerians are invited to apply for positions under the General Duty and Specialists cadres. Applicants for the General Duty category must possess GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent qualifications with at least five credits—including English and Mathematics—obtained in no more than two sittings.

Specialists cadre applicants are required to have a minimum of four credits, including English and Mathematics, also in not more than two sittings, in addition to at least three years of relevant work experience and necessary trade test certifications.

The statement added that all applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth. Age requirements are set at 18–25 years for General Duty applicants and 18–28 years for Specialists. Candidates must also be medically, physically, and psychologically fit. Height requirements for General Duty applicants are 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women.

The recruitment exercise, the PSC emphasized, will be entirely free of charge, warning applicants to beware of fraudsters and false payment requests. It assured that the process will be transparent, credible, and strictly merit-based.

Interested applicants are required to submit their applications online via the official portal: (http://www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng), which will be activated on December 15, 2025. Additional guidelines will also be available on the official websites and social media platforms of both the PSC and the NPF.

The Commission called on qualified and patriotic Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to national security.
