Pantami Expresses Sorrow Over Second Devastating Fire at Gombe Timber Market in One Month
Professor Ali Isa Pantami, former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, has expressed deep sorrow and commiserated with traders following a second devastating fire incident at the Gombe Timber Market, which occurred barely one month after a similar inferno had ravaged a section of the same market.
The former Minister noted that the repeated tragedy compounds the hardship faced by hardworking traders in the vital commercial hub.
Heartbreaking Losses in Rapid Succession
The latest fire, reportedly caused by an electrical fault, led to the destruction of several shops and goods valued at millions of naira.
Professor Pantami highlighted the rapid succession of the disasters, noting that the incident came just 29 days after the November 17 fire, which razed the scrap and metal section of the market, destroying over 30 shops and properties reportedly valued at more than ₦500 million.
