Pantami Mourns Ex-CJN Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, Describes Him as Icon of Humility

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, CON, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed (Rtd), describing the late jurist as an icon of humility, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice.

Pantami said he received the news of Justice Mohammed’s passing with profound sadness, noting that Nigeria has lost one of its finest legal minds and a principled defender of the rule of law.

According to him, the late former CJN served the nation with honour, courage, and a strong sense of responsibility throughout his distinguished career on the bench, particularly during his years at the Supreme Court, which culminated in his appointment as Chief Justice of Nigeria.

He noted that Justice Mohammed’s tenure was marked by a deep commitment to judicial independence, fairness, and strict adherence to the sanctity of the Constitution, values that defined his service to the judiciary and the nation at large.

Pantami further described the late jurist as a disciplined, humble, and dedicated public servant whose contributions to the Nigerian judiciary would remain indelible in the country’s legal history.

“The passing of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed is a great loss not only to the judiciary but to the entire nation,” he said.

Pantami extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Nigerian judiciary, the Supreme Court, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and all colleagues and associates who had the privilege of working with the late legal luminary.

He also offered prayers for the repose of the former CJN’s soul, asking Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, colleagues, and Nigerians the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, was widely respected for his jurisprudential depth, personal humility, and lifelong dedication to the service of justice.

Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, CON, PhD, is the Majidaɗin Daular Usmaniyya.
