Troops Discover IED, Arrest Suspected Boko Haram Logistics Suppliers in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded fresh operational successes in Borno State with the discovery and neutralisation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and the arrest of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers.
The military disclosed that the operations were carried out under Operations Desert Sanity IV and V as part of sustained efforts to degrade terrorist networks and secure major routes in the North East.
According to the statement, troops of 25 Brigade, while conducting a Main Supply Route (MSR) patrol along the Damboa–Komala axis on December 17, 2025, discovered an IED planted along the road. The device was promptly secured and successfully detonated by the troops, preventing potential casualties and ensuring the safety of both military personnel and civilian commuters using the route.

The troops stopped a Lagos-registered vehicle with plate number AKD 244 YE, which was conveying large quantities of food items and energy drinks believed to be supplies meant for Boko Haram/ISWAP elements operating around Kirawa Ward in Gwoza Local Government Area.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident. Items recovered from them include assorted food items and energy drinks, three mobile phones, an identity card, a ring, as well as sums of money in both Nigerian Naira and CFA francs. The suspects, along with the vehicle and recovered items, have been handed over to the appropriate military intelligence unit for further investigation and necessary action.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their professionalism and vigilance, urging them to sustain the current operational tempo. It reiterated the Nigerian military’s resolve to deny terrorists freedom of action, disrupt their logistics and supply chains, and ensure the safety and security of citizens across the North East.
The development underscores ongoing military efforts to stabilise the region and weaken the operational capabilities of insurgent groups.
