Army Disowns Fake DSSC Recruitment Advertisement, Warns Public Against Fraud

The Nigerian Army has disclaimed a recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and other online platforms, falsely claiming that the “Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 Application Form 2026” is currently available.

In a statement issued on Thursday, December 26, 2025, the Army described the advertisement as fake, false, and misleading, stressing that no such recruitment or commissioning exercise has been authorised.

According to the statement signed by the Acting Director, Directorate of Army Public Relations, Colonel Anele Appolonia, the Nigerian Army has not commenced any recruitment or commissioning exercise for either the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or the Short Service Commission (SSC).

“The Nigerian Army has not commenced any recruitment or commissioning exercise for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or Short Service Commission (SSC) at this time,” the statement clarified, urging members of the public to disregard the circulating notice as it did not originate from the Army or any of its authorised channels.

The Army further explained that whenever recruitment exercises are approved, the public would be adequately informed through its official communication platforms, including the Nigerian Army website, verified social media accounts, national daily newspapers, and other recognised channels.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on recruitment fraud, the Nigerian Army cautioned Nigerians to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to fraudsters who exploit fake recruitment notices to deceive and defraud unsuspecting applicants. It also emphasised that recruitment into the Nigerian Army is entirely free of charge and attracts no fees whatsoever.

The Army encouraged members of the public with information on individuals or groups involved in such fraudulent activities to promptly report to the nearest security agency or appropriate authorities for necessary action.

The statement reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to transparency, public awareness, and the protection of citizens from criminal schemes linked to fake recruitment exercises.
