Military Killed 438 Terrorists in 7 Months, Rescued 366 Hostages – Theatre Commander
The Nigerian military says its ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East have led to the killing of 438 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists within seven months.
The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, disclosed this on Saturday during a Christmas luncheon held in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Abubakar said the coordinated military operations, conducted between May and December, also resulted in the surrender of 881 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters alongside their family members.

According to him, troops recovered 254 assorted weapons and 300 units of Starlink communication devices from terrorist enclaves, while 366 civilians were rescued during clearance operations across the Joint Operations Area.
“The surrender of 881 JAS and ISWAP fighters and their families, among other achievements, further underscores the significant progress recorded by the operation,” he said.
The theatre commander noted that the Christmas celebration coincided with the commencement of dry season operations, which traditionally intensify military offensives against insurgents.
He assured the Chief of Army Staff of the unwavering commitment of troops under his command to sustain the operational tempo until lasting peace is restored in the region.
Abubakar attributed the successes recorded so far to the strategic interventions and sustained support of the army leadership, describing the troops as gallant and highly motivated.
