MACBAN Kicks as Militias Shoot Five Fulani Traders in Jos South
Five Fulani traders were on Sunday evening shot and critically injured by suspected Berom militias along the Bukuru–Jos Express Road in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred near a Con filling station, close to Angle D area, as the victims were returning to their homes from the Bukuru Cattle Market, popularly known as Kara Market.
Confirming the attack, the Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, told journalists in an interview that the five victims were ambushed without provocation while in transit.
According to him, security operatives promptly intervened and rushed the injured persons to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where they are currently receiving medical attention.

“The victims were peaceful Fulani men coming back from Kara Market when they were attacked and shot. They are now in critical condition at JUTH,” Yusuf said.
He described the incident as another manifestation of what he called a recurring pattern of attacks on innocent travellers by ethnic militias in Plateau State, particularly along major roads and flashpoints.
The chairman lamented that the incident aligns with what he described as a persistent pattern of attacks on Fulani travellers and other innocent citizens by ethnic militias in Plateau State. He cautioned that continued violence could further escalate tensions and undermine peaceful coexistence among communities.
Yusuf appealed to security agencies and the Plateau State Government to urgently investigate the attack, bring the perpetrators to justice, and put in place effective measures to protect lives and property.
