FCT Police Tighten Security Along Nasarawa–Kogi Border Communities

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has intensified security operations along boundary communities bordering Nasarawa and Kogi states as part of measures to curb criminal activities and strengthen public safety in flashpoint areas.

The Commissioner, On Tuesday, led an extensive operational patrol across the FCT–Nasarawa–Kogi boundaries, personally assessing security deployments and ongoing operations in communities that have recorded security concerns in recent times. The patrol covered Narati Tsofo, Narati Sabo, Chijisabo, Chiji, Abate and Achido communities in Nasarawa State, as well as adjoining locations along the FCT borders.

During the operation, CP Dantawaye issued on-the-spot operational directives to officers on ground, reinforced police presence, and reviewed existing security arrangements to ensure greater effectiveness in preventing and responding to crime. The patrol, according to police authorities, forms part of the Commissioner’s broader strategy of hands-on supervision and regular field assessments, particularly in boundary and vulnerable areas prone to criminal infiltration.

As part of the visit, the Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the Ona of Abaji, His Royal Majesty (Dr.) Adamu Baba Yunusa, CON, where he reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained collaboration with traditional institutions as a critical pillar of community-based security and intelligence gathering.

While commending officers deployed in the area for their dedication, resilience and operational successes against criminal elements, CP Dantawaye urged residents of the affected communities to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities. He encouraged the public to make use of the Command’s emergency lines — 08032003913 and 07057337653 — to support timely police response.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its resolve to maintain sustained patrols and proactive operations to ensure peace, protect lives and property, and deny criminal elements any safe haven within the FCT and its surrounding border communities.
