NAF UAV Completes “Victorious Mission” Against Terrorists Before Successful Emergency Recovery
Following a sustained and aggressive aerial onslaught against terrorists across the Northwest and North Central states, a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has been successfully recovered after a technical hitch during an active operation.
PRNigeria gathered that the dedicated aircraft, used for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) as well as guiding precision airstrikes, had successfully accomplished a series of critical missions before the incident.
Sources within the defense intelligence community confirmed that the platform was instrumental in neutralizing key terrorist targets earlier in the day. The aircraft had successfully conducted a series of missions today and was in another last operation when it developed some technical hitches between Kaduna and Kainji. The commanders had to compel it to return to base before it was forced to land at a safer axis within the theatre of operation.

A defence intelligence source emphasized that the development does not affect the ongoing momentum in any theatre, describing the recovery as a tactical procedure conducted after the UAV had already delivered significant blows to the insurgents.
In a formal statement, the Nigerian Air Force Spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed that the service coordinated a swift response and recovery of the UAV following a “loss of link” during a routine mission within the Operation FASAN YAMMA Sector 3 area.
According to the statement, once the link could not be restored, the crew initiated emergency return-to-base actions in line with established safety protocols. The NAF immediately activated coordinated recovery measures in collaboration with sister services and relevant local authorities.
The NAF assured that the platform has since been secured and contained. Preliminary evaluations by technical teams are currently underway to assess the nature of the hitch. The service confirmed that there was no loss of life or damage to civilian property during the emergency landing. Technical evaluations have commenced in line with safety procedures, and operational activities across all counter-insurgency theatres proceed uninterrupted. The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to national security, stressing that its air power remains focused and professional as operations to clear terrorist enclaves proceed unabated.
