Tinubu Orders Security Agencies to Hunt Down Terrorists Behind Niger Attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the military, police and the Department of State Services to hunt down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State.

The President also directed security agencies to urgently rescue women and children abducted during the attack, vowing that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

Tinubu gave the directive on Sunday in reaction to the killing of villagers in Kasuwan Daji by terrorists suspected to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara states following the United States’ airstrikes carried out on Christmas Eve.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President condemned the assault on the community and the abduction of residents, describing the incident as unacceptable.

The statement said Tinubu had instructed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the DSS to immediately track down the attackers and ensure they face the full weight of the law.

“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down,” the President declared.

He warned that anyone aiding, abetting or enabling the terrorists in any form would also be identified and prosecuted.

Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the Niger State Government and residents of the affected communities, assuring them that the Federal Government would not abandon them.

The President further ordered security agencies to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, particularly areas close to forests believed to serve as hideouts for criminal groups.

He urged Nigerians to remain united and resolute, cautioning against divisive rhetoric capable of undermining national security and cohesion at a critical time.

“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them and deny them any sanctuary,” Tinubu said.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security to communities affected by terrorism and banditry across the country.
