Lagos Police Invite Pastor Chris Okafor Over Alleged Rape, Other Criminal Offences
The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, over allegations of multiple rape and other criminal offences capable of breaching public peace.
The invitation, which was served through the cleric’s legal representative, requires Pastor Okafor to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the invitation follows directives by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, for a comprehensive investigation into several allegations described as capital offences and other serious crimes levelled against the pastor.
The police said the investigation would be handled by the SCID, Panti, and that Pastor Okafor is expected to cooperate fully with detectives as inquiries into the allegations continue.

The Commissioner of Police also ordered immediate and full security protection for alleged victims, urging them to come forward and formally lodge their complaints at the SCID, where the investigation has commenced.
The command assured that the identities of all victims would be kept strictly confidential and adequately protected throughout the investigation. It further called on anyone who may have been victimised or who possesses credible information or evidence relevant to the case to approach the police without fear.
Such individuals, the police said, may report directly at the SCID, Panti, or contact the Police Public Relations Department at the Lagos State Police Command.
Reiterating its position, the police assured the public that the investigation would be conducted professionally, transparently and without bias, in line with the law.
The Lagos State Police Command stressed its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that all allegations of criminal conduct are thoroughly investigated, irrespective of the status or influence of those involved.
“No sentiment will be allowed to prevail, and justice must be served,” the statement added.
