Troops Dislodge Criminals, Free Six Kidnap Victims in Kaduna

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated military operation in the Kajuru/Kujama axis of Kaduna State.

The rescue, which took place on January 5, 2026, was part of a series of simultaneous clearance operations conducted across several flashpoints in Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko Local Government Areas, including communities along the Kauru border. The operations were aimed at further restricting the activities and movement of violent criminal elements within the Joint Operations Area.

According to the military, troops of Sub-Sector 5 were already conducting clearance patrols in the Kujeni general area when they received a distress alert about the presence of armed criminals around the Kasso adjoining hills. The troops swiftly mobilised to the location and made contact with the criminals, engaging them with sustained suppressive fire.

The confrontation forced the criminals to flee into the surrounding forest in disarray, after which the troops immediately exploited the area. During the exploitation, six kidnapped victims were successfully rescued without casualties.

The rescued victims were subsequently handed over to representatives of the Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for onward reunification with their families.

Commending the troops for their gallantry, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 1 Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, charged them to remain on maximum alert and sustain an aggressive operational tempo to deny criminal elements any freedom of action within the area.

Operation Fansan Yamma has continued to intensify offensive operations across Kaduna State and its environs as part of broader efforts to dismantle criminal networks, rescue abducted persons and restore lasting peace to affected communities.
