Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims in Kaduna as Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sustains Offensive
Troops of Sector 1, Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated security operation in the Kajuru/Kujama general area of Kaduna State.
The rescue was carried out on January 5, 2026, as part of a series of simultaneous operations conducted across multiple locations within Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko Local Government Areas, extending to border communities around Kauru.
The operations were aimed at further restricting the activities and freedom of movement of violent extremists operating within the Joint Operations Area (JOA) of Sector 1, Operation Fansan Yamma.
According to military sources, troops of Sub-Sector 5, who were already engaged in clearance operations in the Kujeni area, swiftly responded to a distress alert regarding the presence of suspected violent extremists around the Kasso adjoining hills.

Upon arrival at the location, the troops encountered the criminals and engaged them with effective suppressive fire, forcing them to retreat in disarray into the surrounding forest.
The troops subsequently conducted a thorough exploitation of the area, leading to the successful rescue of six victims who had been held in captivity. The rescued persons were safely evacuated and handed over to representatives of the Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for onward reunification with their families.
The General Officer Commanding and Commander, Sector 1 Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, commended the troops for their professionalism and gallantry. He urged them to maintain maximum alertness and sustain an aggressive operational tempo to continue denying criminal elements freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
Operation Fansan Yamma remains a key component of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to restore peace and security across Kaduna State and adjoining areas.
