Troops Raid Kidnappers’ Den, Neutralise Suspects, Recover Arms in Plateau
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division, operating under the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP), have raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Plateau State, neutralising suspects and recovering weapons.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was launched following credible intelligence on the activities of a notorious kidnapping gang operating in Lantom village, Kadarko District of Wase Local Government Area.
The raid, carried out on January 6, led to the arrest of four suspected kidnappers at the hideout. Items recovered from the suspects included a locally fabricated rifle, an axe and a machete.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested suspects were linked to several kidnapping and armed robbery incidents within Kadarko District and neighbouring communities.
The sources further revealed that two members of the gang escaped during the initial operation, making away with an AK-47 rifle belonging to the group.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly volunteered information on the location of their arms and ammunition cache and offered to guide troops to another hideout on the outskirts of Kadarko for recovery.
However, while leading the troops to the location, the suspects allegedly attempted to disarm one of the guards in a bid to escape.
“The troops responded swiftly and decisively, neutralising the kidnappers in the process,” the source said.
All recovered items are currently in the custody of the military, while follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing gang members and recover their weapons.
