Army Guns Down Notorious Bandit, Recover Firearms in Plateau State
Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, operating under the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP), have neutralised a notorious bandit and recovered arms and ammunition during a raid on a criminal hideout in Plateau State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out on January 8 at Yolan Gboka–Yama Da Lahdi area, following sustained intelligence-driven efforts to track down suspects linked to the December 16, 2025 attack on illegal miners in Tosho community, Fann District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the sources, troops encountered the bandits during the raid, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
“One of the bandits was neutralised during the firefight and was later identified as Sadiq Isah, while other members of the gang escaped into the surrounding area,” the sources said.
They added that troops subsequently combed the hideout, where two AK-47 rifles and 162 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were recovered.
The recovered weapons and ammunition are currently in military custody, while troops have intensified follow-up operations to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further criminal activities within the area.
Operation Enduring Peace is a joint security initiative designed to restore peace and enhance stability across Plateau State and neighbouring areas.
