Police Arrest 6 Kidnappers, Rescue 3 Victims in Nasarawa
Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, attached to the Assakio Division and working in collaboration with local vigilantes, have arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three abducted persons in Lafia Local Government Area of the state.
The operation, carried out in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of the Lafia East Development Area, led to the successful rescue of two females and one male.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lafia on Friday.
According to Nansel, the victims were rescued unharmed, given immediate medical attention, and subsequently reunited with their families.

He explained that the operation followed a complaint received on January 7, 2026, that suspected kidnappers had invaded Angara village and abducted two females, leaving behind an infant. The assailants were said to have later kidnapped another male in the same community.
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate manhunt for the suspects,” Nansel said. “This led to the storming of the kidnappers’ hideouts and the arrest of six suspects, as well as the rescue of the victims.”
He added that the suspects had confessed to committing the crime and were, on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Nansel further assured residents that the police command remained committed to sustaining its offensive against kidnapping and other criminal activities across Nasarawa State.
