Kwara Customs Seizes N1.2bn Worth of Smuggled Goods in Major Anti-Smuggling Operation
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kwara Area Command, has recorded a significant enforcement breakthrough with the interception of contraband valued at approximately ₦1.2 billion in less than one month.
The seizures include 389 bales of second-hand clothing, 108 sacks of used bags, 6,500 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 450 bags of foreign parboiled rice, three luxury vehicles, and 170 pieces of used tyres.

Speaking on the development, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Naeem Ogundeyi, attributed the success to strict operational discipline, professionalism, and intelligence-driven enforcement strategies.
Ogundeyi issued a stern warning to smugglers and economic saboteurs, declaring that the Kwara corridor is no longer a safe route for illegal trade. He emphasized that officers of the command remain resolute in protecting the nation’s economy and ensuring strict compliance with existing trade and customs regulations.
