We’ll fish out killers of mother, six children – Kano police vow
The Kano State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the gruesome killing of a 35-year-old woman and her six children following a deadly attack by unknown assailants in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano.
The incident occurred at about 12:10 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, when suspected hoodlums reportedly broke into the residence of one Haruna Bashir and unleashed a brutal assault on the family.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the victims, identified as Fatima Abubakar and her six children, were attacked with dangerous weapons, sustaining fatal injuries.

Upon receiving the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, immediately deployed a police team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani, to the scene of the incident.
The bodies of the victims were evacuated and rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed them dead.
Meanwhile, a team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Wada Jarma, has been directed to carry out a thorough investigation aimed at tracking down and prosecuting those responsible for the attack.
The Kano State Police Command extended its condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, and the people of Kano State, while assuring the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and strengthening security in the area.
Police authorities also called on members of the public to provide any useful information that could aid the investigation, as efforts intensify to bring the perpetrators to book.
