Troops Destroy Terrorists’ Camps, Repel Drone Attacks in North-East
Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have destroyed several terrorist camps and repelled coordinated drone attacks by insurgents during sustained offensive operations in the North-East.
The military said the operations were carried out under Operation Desert Sanity on Sunday across key terrorist enclaves in the Timbuktu Triangle, including Chilaria, Garin Faruk and Abirma.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt Col Sani Uba, the troops advanced from their harbour area and conducted deliberate, intelligence-led operations, supported by the Air Component, which provided persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance coverage.
He said the air–ground synergy enabled real-time tracking of terrorist movements, deterred reinforcement by the insurgents and enhanced the precision of ground operations.

During the offensive, the troops recovered items of military and logistical value, including Baofeng radios, mobile phones, five AK-47 magazines, several rounds of 7.62×39mm special ammunition and 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition, Boko Haram and ISWAP flags, links of 12.7×108mm ammunition, diesel-powered grinding machines, large quantities of medical supplies, bags of grains, a pick-up truck, underground logistics stores and a petroleum and oil lubricants dump.
The statement added that the recovery further degraded the terrorists’ operational and supply capabilities in the area.
It said the troops came under armed drone attacks by the terrorists around midday, but maintained momentum and continued the advance. A second drone-assisted attack attempt later in the evening was also decisively repelled, forcing the terrorists to withdraw from the area.
Despite the sustained engagements, the military said troops’ morale remained high and fighting efficiency was maintained, while the general security situation in the area was calm but unpredictable.
The military high command reaffirmed that the offensive would continue until terrorist threats were eliminated, civilians protected and lasting peace restored in the North-East.
