Midnight Operation: Troops Free 11 Kidnap Victims After 92 Days in Kaduna
Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued eleven kidnapped Nigerians after 92 days in captivity during a late-night operation along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway.
PRNigeria reports that the operation foiled an attempt by terrorists to move the victims through forest routes under the cover of darkness.
The operation, carried out on January 26, 2026, was executed by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Doka, who detected suspicious movement using high-definition, long-range CCTV surveillance positioned along key corridors notorious for criminal activity.
According to the Army, the terrorists were attempting to relocate their captives through the Gidan Duna–Amale bush track when they were spotted by surveillance assets, prompting an immediate response by troops.

A coordinated interception followed, with soldiers launching a high-speed pursuit using tactical vehicles and motorcycles. Overwhelmed by the swift response, the terrorists abandoned their captives and fled into the surrounding scrubland, thwarting their planned escape into the hinterland.
The rescued victims comprise five adult males, three adult females, and three children. They were abducted on October 26, 2025, from Gada Mallam Maman Community and had remained in captivity for over three months.
Military sources said the victims have since been secured and are receiving appropriate care, while efforts are ongoing to track and neutralise the fleeing criminals.
The Army said the successful operation underscores its growing reliance on modern surveillance technology integrated with agile ground manoeuvres to deny criminal elements freedom of movement, particularly along critical national routes.
It added that sustained operations along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway remain a priority, stressing that troops are determined to ensure the safety of commuters and prevent terrorists from using the corridor as an escape route.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining constant pressure on criminal networks, warning that terrorists will find no safe haven, whether by day or night.
