Troops Raid Kidnappers’ Den in Kaduna Forest, Rescue 8 Hostages
Troops of Sector 7 under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have successfully rescued eight kidnapped victims following a coordinated raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Badurum Kasa Forest, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation, carried out on January 28, 2026, was based on what security sources described as credible and actionable intelligence. The troops advanced into the forest in collaboration with the Zango Kataf Police Area Command, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Forest Guards, and local hunters.

According to a statement from the military, contact with the suspected kidnappers was made at about 5:59 p.m., prompting the criminals to flee in different directions after abandoning their captives. The joint security team was able to secure the area and evacuate the victims without any injuries.
Those rescued were identified as Mrs. Rashida Musa (19), Mrs. Hafsat Nuhu (18), Mr. Zakari Saleh (52), Miss Hasiya Yahaya (13), Mr. Ahmed Yahaya (14), Mr. Ibrahim Saiba (11), Miss Salma Yahaya (14), and Mr. Sophan Idris (18). All have since been reunited with their families.
Security authorities said the operation underscored the growing collaboration among military, police, and local security groups in combating kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
They reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that forest routes and surrounding communities remain safe from attacks.
