
Nigeria, Switzerland Pledge Stronger Defence Partnership
The Nigerian Armed Forces and the Swiss Government have pledged to strengthen defence collaboration, with emphasis on non-kinetic approaches aimed at promoting peace, stability and humanitarian engagement.
A statement by Major General Samaila Uba, Director, Defence Information, Defence Headquarters said the commitment was made when the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Patrick Felix Egloff, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede,
at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Egloff reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to deepening diplomatic and defence cooperation with Nigeria, noting that his country is particularly interested in supporting non-kinetic security initiatives that address the root causes of insecurity through dialogue, development support and humanitarian engagement.
He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between both countries, especially in initiatives that promote peacebuilding, stability and institutional partnerships.
In his response, the CDS welcomed the Swiss Ambassador and expressed appreciation for Switzerland’s continued interest in Nigeria’s security and stability. He acknowledged Switzerland’s contributions to non-kinetic efforts in Nigeria, describing such partnerships as critical in complementing ongoing military operations.
General Oluyede expressed optimism that the existing relationship between Nigeria and Switzerland would be further strengthened to deliver more impactful outcomes in areas of mutual interest, particularly peacebuilding and strategic cooperation.
