PRNigeria recalls that Julaibib was reportedly neutralized by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the Kimba axis of Damboa Local Government Area, prompting ISWAP to swiftly reorganize its command in the strategic zone.
“Intelligence indicates that Abu Khalifa has been selected to take over command in the Timbuktu Triangle, replacing Julaibib,” a source said.
The sources added that the group is yet to officially appoint a second-in-command, although a fighter identified as Tuja is currently being considered as the leading contender for the deputy role.
The development comes amid sustained military offensives by Operation HADIN KAI against ISWAP and Boko Haram strongholds across the southern axis of Borno State.
