‘No One Will Be Left Behind’ – Air Chief Pledges Inclusive Welfare for NAF Veterans
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reassured veterans of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) of the Service’s continued commitment to their welfare, declaring that no retired personnel would be forgotten.
Air Marshal Aneke gave the assurance during a reunion gathering of NAF veterans, an event marked by camaraderie, reflection and renewed bonds among former and serving personnel. Represented by the Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal Martins, the CAS emphasized that veterans remain an integral part of the Air Force family.
He stated that service to the nation establishes a lifelong relationship between personnel and the institution, noting that the Air Force’s responsibility to its members does not end at retirement.
“The Nigerian Air Force does not forget its own,” he said, assuring the veterans that they would be fully carried along in the Service’s programmes and welfare initiatives. He encouraged them to prioritize their health and wellbeing, reaffirming the leadership’s resolve to strengthen support systems for retired officers and airmen.

The CAS paid glowing tribute to the veterans for their contributions to national security, operational excellence and the mentorship of younger generations of personnel. According to him, their discipline, courage and professionalism remain deeply embedded in the culture and operational ethos of today’s Air Force.
He urged them to continue sharing their wealth of experience and institutional knowledge, describing their wisdom as vital to shaping the future direction of the Service.
The event also featured interactive sessions where veterans spoke openly about their experiences in service, as well as challenges faced after retirement. They expressed hopes for improved welfare structures, particularly in healthcare access and post-service support.
Responding to their concerns, Air Marshal Aneke assured the gathering that their feedback would inform concrete actions aimed at strengthening healthcare access, enhancing welfare schemes and expanding engagement platforms for veterans.
He reiterated that the Air Force would continue to walk the journey with its retired personnel, underscoring the Service’s commitment to ensuring that every veteran feels valued, respected and supported.
