Military Sustains Nationwide Offensive, Neutralises Terrorists Across Six Theatres
The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have intensified nationwide combat operations, neutralising scores of terrorists, dismantling criminal networks, and rescuing abducted victims across six operational theatres between 31 January and 8 February 2026.
In a weekly operational briefing on Monday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, said troops maintained high operational tempo across the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-South, and South-East, recording major successes against Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandits, kidnappers, and oil thieves.
Major General Onoja conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, to the Government and people of Kwara State over the 4 February terrorist attack on Woro and Nuku villages in Kaiama Local Government Area, assuring that the perpetrators would be tracked and eliminated.
In the North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI, backed by air assets and local security forces, neutralised multiple Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States.
During clearance operations in the Timbuktu Triangle, troops killed over 20 terrorists, including the wanted commander Julaibib, while several others were neutralised in Gwoza, Hong, and Mubi North LGAs. Troops also uncovered and destroyed three major terrorist detention camps, rescuing 70 captives.
Air strikes in Kaga LGA of Borno State destroyed five terrorist vehicles configured as VBIEDs, killing their occupants.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA launched coordinated offensives across Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger States, the FCT, and parts of Kwara State, neutralising terrorists, arresting collaborators, and rescuing abductees.
At Garin Dandi in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State, troops overran a known terrorist enclave, killing scores of bandits, destroying camps, and rescuing 10 kidnapped victims during withdrawal operations.
Following the Kaiama attack, the Defence Headquarters, on presidential directive, launched Operation Savannah Shield to flush out terrorist enclaves across Kwara and Niger States.
In Plateau State, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE conducted offensive operations in Quaan Pan, Mangu, Riyom, Bokkos, Jos North, and Bassa LGAs, neutralising criminals, arresting suspects, and rescuing abducted victims.
Similarly, Operation WHIRL STROKE troops recorded successes in Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi, and Kwara States, arresting extremists, rescuing kidnapped victims, and recovering arms. Following attacks in Kwande LGA of Benue State, troops established a robust security presence and continued clearance operations.
In the South-South, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE dismantled oil theft syndicates, destroying seven illegal refining sites, arresting suspects, and recovering arms and ammunition in Delta, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States.
Troops of Operation UDO KA conducted targeted operations across Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi States, arresting 23 terrorists, rescuing six kidnapped victims, and recovering weapons and ammunition.
Major General Onoja said the Armed Forces remain resolute in protecting lives and property and will sustain offensive operations until all criminal elements are dismantled.
He urged citizens to continue supporting security efforts with timely intelligence, reiterating the CDS’s directive: “See Something, Hear Something, Say Something.”
