Walson-Jack Presents NITDA-Donated Laptops to 35 Civil Servants

In a strategic partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to drive digital transformation in the Federal Civil Service, the Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to embedding digital competence as a core pillar of public service reform, as thirty-five (35) outstanding officers from seven (7) Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) were honoured at the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) Programme Awards Ceremony.

Delivering her keynote address, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, described the ceremony as both a celebration of excellence and an opportunity to reflect on the steady progress of the Federal Civil Service toward becoming fully digital, paperless, and performance-driven.

Mrs Walson-Jack explained that the DL4ALL Programme was deliberately designed to equip officers across MDAs with the foundational digital skills required to thrive in the modern workplace. She expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and consistent support for innovation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She further commended the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy for the strategic collaboration that has accelerated programme implementation. The HCSF stressed that continuous upskilling is no longer optional but a defining element of professionalism in today’s public service.

Mrs Walson- Jack lauded the Digital Literacy and Digital Transformation Champions across MDAs for driving mobilisation and adoption of the programme. She announced that the thirty-five (35) officers being honoured were selected for their exceptional performance and urged them to serve as ambassadors of change by mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge, and deepening the integration of digital practices within their organisations.

While congratulating the awardees, Mrs Walson-Jack reassured other participants that every effort invested in learning contributes significantly to strengthening collective institutional capacity.

She also acknowledged the Director-General of NITDA, Dr Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, and programme partners, including Cisco, for their technical expertise and sustained commitment to the success of the initiative.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Dr Binyerem Ukaire, represented by the Director of Learning and Development, Mrs Helen Garpiya, commended the interagency collaboration and described the Programme as a landmark achievement in the journey toward a fully digitalised and paperless Civil Service.

In his remarks, the Director-General of NITDA described civil servants as the engine room of national transformation, emphasising that digital reform must focus on people, processes, and technology working in synergy. He reaffirmed the national target of achieving 95 per cent digital literacy by 2030, with an interim milestone of 70 per cent by 2027, and noted the significant increase in enrolment and completion rates recorded under the programme.
