In Taraba, Military Arrest Suspected Gun-Runner, Recover Weapons, Ammunition
Troops deployed at Ibi and the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari in Taraba State have arrested a suspected gun-runner and recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and other items during an intelligence-driven operation.
Security sources confirmed that the operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding a suspicious Peugeot vehicle heading toward the Ibi waterside area. Troops swiftly mobilised, intercepted the vehicle, and apprehended the suspect.
The suspect, identified as Abubakar Ibrahim, 48, from Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, was taken into custody along with the following recovered items:
Six locally fabricated weapons with varying registration numbers

Seven bottles of perfume with rubbers

One mentholatum rub
Two small containers of Vaseline
N1,400 in cash
Military sources stated that the suspect and the recovered items are currently held in custody and are to be transferred to the Brigade Headquarters for further investigation.
The sources further assured that while the general security situation in the area remains calm, it is highly unpredictable. They added that troop morale and operational readiness remain high.
This arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and reduce criminal activities in Taraba and neighbouring areas.
