Troops Intercept ₦37m Linked to Terror Financing at Borno Checkpoint
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intercepted ₦37 million suspected to be linked to terrorist financing during a checkpoint operation in the North-East theatre.
The interception occurred at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbal Checkpoint, where troops stopped a suspicious vehicle conveying five occupants. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered approximately Thirty-Seven Million Naira (₦37,000,000), carefully concealed in bags, alongside multiple mobile phones believed to be connected to terrorist financing and coordination activities.
Military sources described the seizure as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial networks sustaining terrorist operations in the region. The suspects are currently undergoing preliminary investigation, while the recovered funds and devices are being analysed for intelligence exploitation.

The development comes amid intensified logistics strangulation operations by OPHK aimed at crippling terrorist sustainment structures across the theatre.
On 16 February 2026, troops of Sector 1, in conjunction with vigilante forces, executed a coordinated night ambush along a known crossing route frequently used by ISWAP elements transiting from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria. The insurgents reportedly ran into effective enfilade fire and were forced to retreat in disarray.
Subsequent exploitation of the contact area led to the recovery of critical logistics supplies assessed to be intended for terrorist resupply missions. Troops have since maintained control of the area and are conducting follow-up operations to consolidate gains and prevent regrouping.
Military authorities said the combined operations reflect a deliberate strategy to simultaneously disrupt terrorist movement corridors and choke off financial pipelines that enable combat operations.
