In Ondo, Army Neutralises 2 Terrorists, Recovers AK-47, Ammunition, Logistics
Troops of the Nigerian Army under the 32 Artillery Brigade have neutralised two suspected armed terrorists and recovered weapons during a joint security operation in Ondo State.
The operation, conducted on February 14, 2026, along the Akunu–Auga road, followed credible human intelligence on the movement of suspected criminals within the area. The troops, deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auga, swiftly mobilised to intercept the suspects.
According to a statement issued by Major Irabor Njoka, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, the interception led to a firefight after the armed elements engaged the troops. The superior firepower of the soldiers resulted in the neutralisation of two of the suspects, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, as well as local vigilantes.
Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle with two magazines loaded with 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, a torchlight, suspected illicit drugs, charms, and the sum of ₦39,000, among other personal belongings.
The Army said the success of the mission underscores its determination to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and ensure the protection of lives and property across the state. It added that the Brigade would sustain aggressive clearance and exploitation operations, intensify patrols along identified criminal corridors, and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders.
The military also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
