Bandits Kill 4 in Zamfara, Benue Attacks as Security Forces Intensify Operations
Armed bandits have killed four people in separate attacks in Zamfara State and Benue State, with security forces stepping up operations to prevent further violence and apprehend the assailants.
In Zamfara, three members of the Civilian Protection Group (CPG) were shot dead during a raid on Magamin Diddi District in Maradun Local Government Area. The attack occurred at about 4:00 p.m. when a large group of bandits reportedly stormed the area and engaged the CPG members in sporadic gunfire.
Security sources identified the victims as Nasiru Gaji, Jamilu Ibrahim, and Bashar Dan Inna. The attackers subsequently seized the rifles of the slain volunteers before fleeing the scene.
The bodies of the deceased were evacuated to the General Hospital in Maradun for postmortem examination and later released to their families for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Meanwhile, in Benue State, suspected herdsmen bandits launched coordinated attacks on Olojo, Ojantelle, and Edikwu Icho villages in Apa Local Government Area at about 1:45 p.m. on February 22. The assailants reportedly fired sporadically, causing panic among residents.
Troops and tactical units responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a gun duel that forced them to retreat into nearby bushes. However, during the attack, a resident of Edikwu Icho, identified as Ngbede Okpe Agabaidu, was shot dead. His body was later evacuated to a local mortuary.
Military authorities have since coordinated aerial surveillance and intensified ground operations in the affected areas to track down the fleeing suspects.
Security operatives in both states have been placed on high alert, while residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to relevant authorities as efforts continue to restore calm.
